The teen, who would have faced charges of felony arson and felony criminal mischief if he was an adult, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 3, after he set a garbage can on fire at the Landing Condominium complex at 209 New Chalet Drive, police said.

Police said it is alleged the teen intentionally set the garbage can on fire on the front porch of the building before the flames spread to the complex's fitness center, police said.

The Lake Mohegan Fire Department responded to the incident and determined that the fire was caused by some type of incendiary device, police said.

The teen was issued a juvenile appearance ticket and released to a parent. He is scheduled to appear in the Westchester County Department of Probation on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
