A resident on Sunset Drive in Ossining reported seeing a black bear Friday morning.

The Ossining Union Free School District has been notified and is working with police to coordinate efforts.

Police officers will be on hand at drop-off and dismissal at Brookside School and recess will be indoors for the day, police said.

"Our officers will also be hanging around the other schools just to make sure everyone feels safe," Ossining police said in a post on Facebook. "No reason to panic at this point. A little information goes a long way. If you see a bear in your yard, follow the rules and give us a call."

Two black bear sightings were reported on the Bedford-Mount Kisco border the last week, with the latest Thursday. For more, click here.
