The woman on Spring Street, whose name was not released, discovered that she was unable to use her apartment key on her door on Saturday, with a locksmith later reporting that “there was material left in the keyway that suggested someone had tried to pick the lock,” according to the Ossining Police Department. Police searched the apartment but found no intruders and the woman reported that nothing appeared to be taken from the apartment.

Police also reported the following items from Nov. 19 to 26:

• A realtor inspecting property on Birchbrook Road observed that copper piping had been removed from a furnace and hot water heater on the afternoon of Nov 25. The agent told police that he believed that the pipes may have been taken by a contractor who did work back in October.

• A 27-year-old Buchanan woman was issued summonses at 5:50 p.m. Friday for talking on her cell phone while driving and unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 9 southbound at Old Albany Post Road in Ossining, police said. Westchester County Police Officer Sean Armstrong stopped the woman and observed her using a cell phone without a hands-free device while driving, according to police. After the officer detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, the woman turned over a small plastic bag containing marijuana that was in the center console, police said. Her name was not released.
