OSSINING, N.Y. -- Police said farewell to 2015 as well as its midnight tour supervisor, Ossining police Sgt. Vinnie DiLeo, who retired on New Year's Eve.
Many residents have never met DiLeo. But that’s because for more than a decade, he has been protecting Ossining while everyone was sleeping.
As a midnight tour supervisor he was responsible for ensuring the safety of Ossining during “the witching hour.”
His superiors and coworkers said he did a great job and everyone is sad to see him leave the department. A going away party was thrown for the sergeant, and recently-retired Ossining police chief Joe Burton presented DiLeo with an official “retired” badge.
