OSSINING, N.Y. -- Residents might do a double take when they see Ossining police officers wearing pink t-shirts under their uniforms, or pink on their badges, or even carrying a pair of pink handcuffs.

But all of the pink is for a good cause -- Breast Cancer Awareness month which takes place throughout October, officials said.

The department said they show their support because so many of their family, friends, and neighbors have been affected by the disease and they can make bring awareness and make a difference by wearing a little pink.

To help show they are serious, the pink band on their badges is to show they are supporting all of the residents who are fighting the battle and the families of those who have lost the battle, officials said.

They are also helping find a cure by making a donation when they pick up their pink gear. The Ossining PBA will donate all of the money to a local breast cancer cause.
