Ossining Landlord's Burglary Charge Tops Police Blotter

OSSINING, N.Y. -- An Ossining landlord who allegedly entered a tenant's apartment and damaged property and was charged with burglary on Thursday, Dec. 4, is among the calls that the Westchester County police in Ossining responded to in the last few weeks.

Other reports by police include: 

  • Westchester County police responded to Croton Dam Road and Narragansett Avenue on a report that a vehicle was involved in a rollover accident on Monday, Nov. 24. The driver was not injured.
  • A Westchester County police officer on patrol observed that the streetlight at North State Road and Ganung Drive was not working on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The town Highway Department was notified.
  • Westchester County police responded to Woods Brooke Circle to assist an elderly man who was suffering severe stomach pain on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The man was subsequently transported by the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.
  • Westchester County police responded to St. Augustine’s Cemetery on Hawkes Avenue on a report that two suspicious vehicles were on the grounds on Thursday, Nov. 27. The vehicles were actually operated by maintenance personnel who were laying down salt and sand on the roadways.
  • Westchester County police responded to a home on Hillcrest Avenue on a report that a woman was incoherent and in need of medical aid on Friday, Nov. 28. The woman was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
  • Westchester County police responded to Minkel Road after a resident reported receiving two harassing phone calls on Tuesday, Dec. 2. An investigation is continuing.
  • Westchester County police responded to Hudson Watch Drive on Tuesday, Dec. 2 after a resident who was walking his dog said he was almost struck by a vehicle driven by a man who was on his cellphone. The motorist and pedestrian also exchanged words before the car drove off. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle, which may have been in the neighborhood to make a delivery.
  • Westchester County police responded to a business office on Executive Drive after an employee said he opened an envelope that came in the mail and then felt a strange taste in his mouth on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The county police hazardous device unit was requested to examine the scene and take possession of the item. No suspicious or illegal substance was found.
