Troopers said they observed a Dodge pick-up truck towing a loaded car trailer enter the Taconic State Parkway at Bulls Head Road in Stanford.

Eugene W. Wolfe Jr., of Crestwood, Kentucky, the driver of the vehicle, told troopers he had a Ruger LCP handgun in the vehicle with him. Wolfe, who is licensed to carry handguns in the state of Kentucky, did not have a permit to carry a handgun in New York State, according to police.

Wolfe was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony.

Wolfe was transported to the Poughkeepsie barracks where he was processed and released after posting $750 station bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Stanford Court on June 22.
