Greenburgh Couple Reports Theft Of Jewelry Worth $2,700

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — A Greenburgh couple reported to police Saturday that $2,700 worth of jewelry had been stolen from their Wyndover Road home.

The Greenburgh homeowner told police she first discovered jewelry missing from her jewelry box Feb. 14, and by Friday at 3 p.m. she noticed additional jewelry was missing. A total of nine pieces were taken, according to Greenburgh police.

The woman also told police that her husband's employees have an access code to her home's garage. The door inside the garage that leads into the home was also not locked at the time of the incident, police said.

Greenburgh police are investigating the incident as second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

Greenburgh police also reported the following incidents:

  • Suspicious Incident: An Elmsford man called police Friday at noon after returning to his home on Old Knollwood Road to find his screen door and front door unlocked and his bedroom door open, both of which he had closed before he left for work. No items were reported stolen or damaged, police said.
  • Petit Larceny: An Edgemont man returned from an eight-day vacation Sunday to find that two of his cars had been ransacked, police said. About $20 was taken from the unlocked cars that were in his driveway, according to police.
  • Grand Larceny: Police are investigating the theft of a 2008 gray BMW reported by a Hartsdale man on Monday morning. The man told police he parked in his usual resident's spot in the Hartsdale Towers Sunday night and returned to find it was missing Monday at 9 a.m. There are no suspects at this time.
