Four Charged In Route 35 DWI Detail, Including Woman With Child In Car

Six area residents are facing charges after the New York State Police conducted a joint agency DWI Sobriety Checkpoint with the Lewisboro Police Department on Route 35 in the Town of Lewisboro on Saturday.

During the detail the following were charged with driving while intoxicated:

Michael Cawley, 41, from Cross River, charged with DWI, provided a breath sample that indicated he had a .10% blood-alcohol content, according to police.

Luciana V. Shortal, 37, from Ridgefield, charged with felony aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle, according to police. Shortal refused to provide a breath sample, police said.

Kristin M. Griffin, age 32, from Ridgefield, charged with DWI and refused to provide a breath sample, police said.

Barbara G. Tonry, 79, from Hamden, charged with DWI and provided a breath sample that indicated she had a .10% BAC, police said.

In addition to the DWI arrests there were two arrests made for unlawful possession of marijuana, both violations, according to police.

All six were issued tickets to appear in the Town of Lewisboro Court on June 6.
