Daniel Forte, who was convicted of murder in the 1st degree, was also convicted of two counts of murder in the 2nd degree, two counts of robbery in the 1st degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree and one count of robbery in the 2nd degree, all felonies, District Attorney Janet DiFiore said.

Forte's accomplice, Enrique Ansell, a 27-year-old Sleepy Hollow resident pled guilty to robbery in the 1st degree, a Class B felony and faces 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in July, DiFiore said.

Forte and Ansell killed Kujtim Rushiti during a marijuana robbery in January 2013 at Oak and Warren Streets in Greenburgh, DiFiore said. During the robbery, Forte struck Rushiti with a gun and then shot him in the neck as Rushiti's friends attempted to come to his aid, DiFiore said.

Rushiti was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he subsequently died, DiFiore said.

DiFiore said Greenburgh police and the District Attorneys office initiated an extensive investigation, processing the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, forensically analyzing cell phone movements, thereby quickly developing information on the defendants and their movements after the shooting.
