The fire started at around 9 p.m. Saturday, engulfing the two-story structure on Pleasantville Road near the pool. Briarcliff firefighters knocked down the fire after several hours, lohud.com said.

The pavilion -- with a pool, tennis courts, ice skating rink, and other amenities -- is considered the hub of the village. The damage to the pavilion, including the pool, is a complete loss and is not salvagable, lohud.com said.

The mayor and board are committed to rebuilding the facility by the annual Memorial Day opening of the pool, lohud.com said.
