To the editor:
I am supporting Victoria Gearity form Mayor in the Democratic Primary to be held in Ossining this Tuesday, 9/9 and I urge my fellow Ossining Democrats to come out to join me in voting for Victoria.
We live in a wonderful community that has so much to offer. However, one thing we lack is a revitalized downtown that provides tax relief and needed services to our residents. Victoria believes that we must actively solicit the types of businesses, restaurants, and recreational attractions that we want for our downtown and turn our current “business-unfriendly” reputation around to realize Ossining’s yet-untapped potential. We all know Ossining should be an exciting, vibrant Hudson River destination.
It has been my experience as a public servant for the past 12 years that most people who run for office do so because they desire to serve their community. I believe that is the motivation of every member currently sitting on the Ossining Village Board.
However, communities grow and evolve, and political leadership must change periodically to meet the new needs of the community. In Ossining, I believe we are overdue for such a change.
Victoria Gearity will bring the refreshed, energetic and open new style to the village government that we need right now. She is a collaborative leader, who values a diversity of opinion to make sure that the needs of all stakeholders are heard when important community decisions are made.
Accomplishing the important goals we all have for Ossining’s bright future requires a leader with intelligence, positive energy, and the skills to work collaboratively with the school district, local businesses, and Town, county and state governments for the benefit of our residents. Victoria Gearity is that leader. Please join me in voting for Victoria for Mayor on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014.
