Ossining Letter: Support Bill Hanauer For Mayor

OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to ossining@dailyvoice.com

To the editor: I'd like to explain why, as a registered independent, I am proud to have voted for Mayor Bill Hanauer in the past and why I plan to cast my ballot in his favor again this year.

I’m grateful for the improvements Bill has made that have kept our village of Ossining a safe place to live.

Re-electing Bill will guarantee that everything that he initiated eight years ago when he was first elected mayor will continue to generate success for years to come.

My vote is informed by Bill’s record, his leadership skills, his understanding of the complexities that come with organizing people and his ability to get things done and built.

My vote is also in line with his continuing vision for a better, more vital Ossining. We’ve all seen the progress he's instilled downtown and look forward to a future with more trails, parks, museums and waterfront activities. Voting for Bill is voting for an Ossining where we all want to bring up our families, spend our time and feel assured to invest our money in our homes and our community.

To build a better and greener tomorrow requires someone with Bill Hanauer’s experience, tireless efforts and ability to work on our behalf with the village board and committees, developers, unions and contractors. After considering Victoria Gearity’s record and her limited experience, I am concerned that she is not equipped to lead us on this path of progress.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Ossining Library, we have the opportunity to hear from both candidates about their past accomplishments, their leadership skills and their visions for our future. I hope to see you there and very much hope to see you at the polls on Nov. 4.

Let us not lose the momentum we’ve got going. In this critical election, every vote counts. Doug Turshen
