To the editor:

I am proud to say Dana Levenberg and I have been friends for the past 20 years. She is a wonderful loving mother, wife and dependable, caring friend.

We met when our children attended a local parent co-operative nursery school, where we immersed ourselves fully and became members of the parent-controlled board of directors. This was before the days of full-day pre-K and dual language programs, which Dana fully advocated for as a longtime school board member.

She and I have had so many positive community, personal and family experiences throughout the years. In the schools, we both moved on to leadership roles in the PTA and worked together on passing the school district budget, book fairs, bake sales and safe driving nights at Ossining High School. My personal favorite is the Ossining Micro Fund, an organization Dana started in 2005 with a few of her close cohorts and served as its president for 10 years.

I have worked closely with her as a board member the past eight years and can attest to her passion and relentless vision. The Micro Fund's pay-it-forward philosophy makes it the purest form of neighbors helping neighbors in need. To quote Dana, “Not a hand out, but a hand up!”

She is extremely smart and motivated, and she gets the job done! I have the utmost confidence in her abilities to be an outstanding and fiscally responsible Ossining Town Supervisor.
