Letter: Democracy Being Challenged In Ossining Town Elections

OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Daily Voice accepts letters to the editor. Please send letters to ossining@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

On July 28, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. the town of Ossining Republican candidates -- former Mayor John Perillo, town Supervisor Aaron Spring, town Councilman and retired Admiral Michael Milner -- will appear in front of Supreme Court Justice Adler to defend their right to be on the ballot in this November elections.

The Democratic candidates, along with an objector, have filed an order to show cause with the intent of throwing the Republican trio off the ballot. They are attempting to disenfranchise the residents of the town of Ossining, which includes the village of Ossining, the village of Briarcliff and the unincorporated town. Once again the Democrats want to win this November’s elections in the courts and do not want to give the voters the right to choose their elected officials.

This year, however, the voters will have a clear choice and will hear different opinions on which they can make informed decisions on many different matters that are of great importance in the town of Ossining. Our opponents claim to be “pro-choice” but apparently not when it comes to the  right to choose your elected officials.

John Perillo, Aaron Spring, Michael Milner
