To the Editor,

On Nov. 3, I will be casting my vote for Karen D’Attore for Ossining Town Council. Having worked with Karen professionally for more than a year, I am impressed with her skills at managing IFCA Housing Network, a challenging organization dedicated to developing and maintaining affordable housing.

Since taking over this organization as executive director last September, Karen has effectively managed staff, reduced the operating budget – without compromising services – and secured resources to complete major improvements to IFCA’s existing rental housing stock comprising 13 buildings and 78 units in the Village of Ossining.

Working with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, these improvements will further reduce IFCA’s operating expenses while increasing energy efficiency and sustainability. Having witnessed Karen in action and the significant progress she has made at IFCA in just a short time, I am certain she will bring needed experience to the Town of Ossining.

I think she has proven herself to be a highly effective leader and manager, as well as a team player, who works collaboratively with staff, board and key stakeholders. These strengths, combined with her sensitivity to the needs of the community and her commitment to Ossining, will be a valuable asset to town government in driving much-needed economic growth and innovation.
