Former Ossining Town Supervisor Endorses Borgia

None The writer is former Ossining Town Supervisor and Westchester County Legislator 9th District To the Editor: As a former Westchester County Legislator representing the 9th Legislative District, I have a considerable interest in the person who is elected to hold this seat.  I want someone who has broad public service experience, is sensitive and dedicated to the needs of the citizens of the district and the county, and has demonstrated real accomplishments rather than just voicing campaign promises that are never fulfilled. When Catherine Borgia was elected to the position of Ossining Town Supervisor a severe economic downturn in our economy led to a budget deficit.  She responded by cutting her own salary and asking others to join her.  She sacrificed and asked everyone around her to do the same.   When Catherine Borgia stated that the existing Public Safety budget for the town was not sustainable over the long haul, she sought relief for the taxpayers that led to a contract for police services with the County of Westchester dramatically reducing taxes while maintaining excellent police services.  Town/village court consolidation is another example of the reduction of waste and duplication of services. Catherine Borgia gets it.  She has the experience and educational background that enables her to see the big picture and make the hard choices that many local officials just don't understand nor have the courage to act upon.  We need leadership in the Westchester County Legislature to make the hard choices and to bring others along with her to make the government work smarter and more efficiently. I will be voting for Catherine Borgia for County Legislator on Election Day because she is a proven capable leader that will make a difference to the county just like she has for our local community.  Please join me. Richard G.
