Borgia Talks About Community Service

To the Editor: Almost ten years ago, I began working for Assemblywoman Sandy Galef. After only a week serving her constituents I realized how much I loved working for the benefit of the community, and how satisfying it was to have a job where you can really make a difference in people's lives. I've had several other public service jobs since then, and I've had that same sense of gratitude every day since.

I am running to represent the people of Ossining, Briarcliff, Croton, Cortlandt and Peekskill on the Westchester County Board of Legislators. We all know that these difficult economic times call for a type of government that uses resources wisely.

We need leaders who make spending cuts where possible to make sure we have the resources for the services that are necessary to our health, well-being, and future prosperity. For the past three years since I've been Town Supervisor of Ossining, I have faced economic challenges by being a smart steward of resources while looking for fresh ideas. By working together--managers, elected officials, unions, staff members and community leaders--we managed to turn around the financial condition of the town and provide tax cuts for two years in a row.

I'm asking for your support next Tuesday, November 8, so that I can continue to provide the collaborative, hard-working leadership the residents of Ossining, Briarcliff, Croton, Cortlandt and Peekskill deserve.

Thank you, Catherine Borgia
