William G. Pointer, 76, Former Ossining Resident, Worked For Maue Oil

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. - William G. Pointer of Schoharie, formerly of Ossining, died Tuesday, April 15. He was 76.

Pointer was born June 2, 1937, in Ossining, he was the son of Burt Pritchard Pointer and Anna (Anderson) Pointer. A 1955 graduate of Ossining High School, he served in the National Guard and U.S. Air Force. He was a Village of Ossining police officer and then worked for Maue Oil. A volunteer fireman for 50 plus years with Independent Hose Co. #6, he served as fire chief from 1980 to 1986. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #506, the New York State Fire Chiefs’ Association, the Ossining Ex-Chiefs’ Association, FASNY, and Teamsters Local #456.

Pointer is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Corti) Pointer; daughter, Stephanie Pointer Brunetta (Scott Brady) of Oneonta; son, W. Andrew “Andy” (Christine) Pointer of Ossining; and two grandchildren.

Calling hours are Monday, April 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Dorsey. Interment to follow at Dale Cemetery. Services will be held Saturday, April 19 in Schoharie.
