Roger W. Peterson, 86, Longtime Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Roger W. Peterson, a longtime resident of Ossining (Crotonville), died on Nov. 19. He was 86.

Peterson was born in Mt. Vernon on Dec. 22, 1926 and was the son of Vernon and Catherine (Graham) Peterson. 

He was a graduate of Ossining High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan.  He was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church. He served over 60 years as an usher.  He was a member of the American Legion, Parker Bale Post # 1597 and was a Past Commander.

Peterson is survived by his wife Helen (Garrett); his sons Roger (Ellen), Jeff (Lynn) and Michael; his brothers Robert and Charles (Lois); five grandchildren Lauren, Shannon, Carly, Charlie and Lucas; and a great granddaughter Lorelei.  He was predeceased by his brother Vernon.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m.  at St. Augustine’s Church. Interment St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
