Margaret Palka, 76, Lifelong Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Margaret "Peggy" T. Palka, a lifelong resident of Ossining, died Aug. 18. She was 76.

Palka was born Sept. 6, 1935, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Thomas E. and Anne M. Breen Truss. She graduated from Ossining High School. She was a member of the Ossining Columbiettes and was a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher.

On May 4, 1957, she married John S. Palka Sr., at St. Augustine's Church in Ossining. They were married for 55 years and he died in 2007.

Palka is survived by five children, John Jr., Catherine Williams, Thomas, David and Randy Palka; 13 grandchildren, including Westchester County Police Officer David Scott Lincoln, and Marine Corps Capt. David Joseph Palka; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Caryn Marie Palka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Augustine Church in Ossining. Burial will be private. Ossining Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
