Luggino Joseph Galletto,88, Former Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Luiggino (Louis) Joseph Galletto, 88, of Pawling and a former resident of Ossining, died on Feb. 17.

Galletto was born to Gabriel and Veronica Galletto on Nov. 16, 1925 in Ossining.

He attended Ossining High School, was a member of the Merchant Marines and a Lieutenant in the United States Army serving in Germany post World War II.  Galletto was employed by New York State Department of Corrections and Department of Motor Vehicles.  He owned and operated Dutch-West Home Improvement Center in Pawling.

Galletto was active the Boy Scouts Troop 29 and later the Sea Scouts.   He was an avid gardener, reader, wine-maker, family historian and traveler. He loved history and art and visited many museums with his family. He also took special interest in the Ossining Historical Society.

Galletto is survived by his children Lu-Ann (Lowell Allan) Pyke, Dr. Leonardo J. (Cynthia) Galletto, Luiggino (Patricia) Galletto, Jr., Linda (Todd) Morgan, and Lori Galletto; grandchildren Meredith and Geoffrey Pyke, Alexander Galletto, Luiggino III, Monica Rose, and Isabella Galletto and Claudia and Zachary Morgan: his sister Lucia Veteran, and brother Gabriel (Bobby) Galletto.  He was predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Veronica Galletto, his wife Linda Fasciani Galletto, brothers Tiofilo Galletto and Humbert Galletto and sisters Anna Chiulli and Irene Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to Ossining Historical Society, 196 Croton Avenue, Ossining, N.Y. 10562.    A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church, 25 Eastern Avenue, Ossining, on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. marking what would have been Luiggino's and Linda's 59th wedding anniversary. Dorsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
