OSSINING, N.Y. Joseph "Pepe" Barreiro of Ossining died July 3. He was 90.
Barreiro worked as a highway foreman for the Village of Ossining.
Born Jan. 9, 1922, in New York City, he was the son of Manuel and Carmen Barreiro. During World War II, Barreiro served in the Navy in the South Pacific. He was a member of American Legion Post 506 and Elk's Lodge Post 1486.
Barreiro was a also parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Ossining. He married Mildred Nemeth in 1949.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; a daughter, Deborah (Samir) Ansary; three sons, Joseph (Carol) Barreiro, Michael Barreiro and Mark Barreiro; a brother, Frank; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Manuel; and a sister, Ruth Martin.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Leach and Thomas Funeral Home in Ossining. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine's Church. Burial will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery.
