John E. Shook, 67, Lifelong Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. -- John E. Shook, a lifelong resident of Ossining, died on Sept. 9. He was 67.

Shook was born in Ossining on Sept. 25, 1945 and was the son of Elden and Carmella (Monea) Shook. “Shookie” was 67.

He was a graduate of Ossining High School, Class of 1963, and a graduate of Westchester Community College. He married Connie Perillo on June 10, 1967. He was an ex-Captain and 50-year member of Monitor Hose Co. of the Ossining Fire Department. He was a member of B.P.O Elks, Westchester Bridge, and the Loyal Order of Moose. He was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church.

Shook is survived by his wife, Connie, his two daughters, Toni Ann Shook and Jean Marie (John) Beaman; his sister Elizabeth Aviles; four grandchildren: Brandon and Kyle Visoky and Michael and Jessica Beaman,; his “brother” John Perillo and many nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased by his brother-in-law Confessor (Charlie) Aviles.

 Visiting hours will be on Wednesday  from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church. Interment at St. Augustine Cemetery. Dorsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
