James C. Schlichtman, 95, Ossining Resident And WWII Veteran

OSSINING, N.Y. -- James C. Schlichtman a longtime resident of Ossining, died on July 1. He was 95.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1919 and was the son of the late James and Ann (Brennen) Schlichtman.  

Schlichtman served in the U.S. Army during World War  II with the 87th Infantry Div. and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He was a member of the American Legion Parker Bale Post, where he served for many years as the Chaplain.  He was also a longtime communicant of St. Augustine’s Church.

Mr. Schlichtman is survived by his three children Barbara (Tom) Doorley, James and Marion (Daniel) Whalen; sister Ruth (Bob) Stanley; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife Marion in 1990, and siblings Ethel Bale and Harold Schlichtman.

Visiting hours will be held at Dorsey on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9  p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church.  The interment will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
