Whittaker was born Aug. 27, 1946, to John G. Whittaker, Sr. and Clarrisa Harris Whittaker. He received his formal education in the Washington, DC public school system, graduating in 1964 from Eastern High School. He graduated from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until he was discharged in 1969. He lived with his wife in Ossining.
He was a counselor and social worker before working for the New York State Department of Labor for over 21 years until his retirement in September 2013 as a lead veteran employment representative.
Whittaker is survived by his father, John G. Whittaker, Sr.; stepmother, Cecelia; wife, Olivia Marie Wilson; step brothers, Jeffrey and Michael (Crystal) Whittaker; step sister, Stephanie Whittaker; a niece and four nephews; a grandniece; a ‘spiritual brother’ and extended family; a host of cousins; and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Clarrisa; and brother, John G. Whittaker, Jr.
Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. with memorial service to follow at The Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining.
