Grace Eleanor Ferrell Messiah, 103, Of Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. - Grace Eleanor Ferrell Messiah of Ossining died Jan. 12. She was 103.

Messiah was born Jan. 20, 1910, to Isaiah and Lillie (Johnson) Ferrell in Philadelphia. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Hunter College in 1935, and a Master's Degree from Columbia Teaching College in 1938. She was a teacher for the New York School System and a member of the Grace Episcopal Church. She was a longtime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Zeta Nu Omega Chapter.

Messiah is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Willis J. Messiah; sister, Ruth Foeman; and brothers, H. Albion, Lewis, Phillip, John, Irvin and Robert Ferrell.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 33 Church St., White Plains, NY 10601, followed by an Entombment of Ashes in the Bell Tower Columbarium at the Grace Church, White Plains, N.Y.
