G. Arthur Hornberger, 93, Of Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – G. Arthur Hornberger, of Ossining, died on Monday, June 15, at Somers Manor Nursing Home in Somers. He was 93.

Hornberger was born in Reading, Pa., on Feb. 14, 1922, to William and Bertha Hornberger. He attended Lebanon Valley High School in Lebanon, Pa. 

He was a former resident of West Chester, Pa. and Stony Point, N.Y.

He had a long career as a musician, teacher, performer, composer and arranger, majoring in instrumental music education, performing with band, orchestra and dance band at West Chester State Teachers' College.

Hornberger's career took him to North Africa and Italy with the U.S. Army Bands, and periods of teaching in Bristol, Pa, and Haverstraw and Stony Point, in Rockland County, and working privately.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marian (Deysher) Hornberger. 

He is survived by his children, James and his wife, Kathy of New City, N.Y., and Anne Harris and her husband, Erik of Somers, brother Robert of Wyomissing Hills, Pa., six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation and burial will be private.

Arrangements will be handled by the Mae Stump Funeral Home in Fleetwood, Pa.
