Funeral Arrangements Announced For Westchester Basketball Star, 18

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Quentin Lupo, the 18-year-old Pleasantville senior who was found dead last Wednesday as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, will be buried on Thursday.

Lupo's funeral will be at Holy Innocents Church at 431 Bedford Road in Pleasantville at 10 a.m Thursday. A wake will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home at 418 Bedford Road.

Lupo was a star on the Pleasantville Panthers basketball team, helping to lead them to a sectional title. A 6-foot-4 forward, Lupo earned all-section honors and was named as an 11th-team all-state selection in Class B.

A GoFundMe page to help Lupo's family has raised more than $44,000 from 384 people in two days. The goal is to raise $45,000. The initial goal was to raise $10,000.

Lupo's dream was to become a teacher, according to his obituary. Lupo is survived by his parents, Robert Lupo and Lucy Diaz, and his brother, Justin Lupo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diaz with a notation "In Honor of Quentin Lupo #30" and given directly to the family.
