Eleanor Moran, 92, Former Ossining Bookkeeper

OSSINING, N.Y. – Eleanor H. Hollender Moran, formerly of Ossining, died July 15. She was 92. 

Moran was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Engelbert and Jeanne Palm Hollender. Her family moved to Ossining in 1925 and she graduated from Ossining High School in 1938. Moran lived in Ossining for more than 60 years and was an active member of Highland Avenue United Methodist Church.  

She retired with her late husband, Michael, to Fairfield Glade, Tenn. in 1987 and moved to New Jersey in 2009. Moran worked as a bookkeeper and volunteered by reading to children in her retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Barbara) Moran, of Mickleton, N.J. and Michael (Maureen) Moran, of Ossining; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at the columbarium in Dale Cemetery in Ossining.
