Eleanor Kolman, 91, Longtime Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Eleanor Horan Kolman, a longtime resident of Ossining, died July 30. She was 91. 

The daughter of Thomas and Mary Ellen Glennon Horan, she was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Manhattan. Kolman attended Cathedral High School and married William J. Kolman in 1944. 

She worked for R.H. Macy, where she was the first female floor supervisor. Kolman moved to Croton-on-Hudson in 1955, where she raised three children. She then moved to Ossining in 1986. Kolman was a communicant of Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton and St Augustine's Church in Ossining. 

Kolman is survived by two daughters, Eileen Kolman and Margaret (John) Kolman-Mandle; a son, William (Patrizia) Kolman Jr. and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1999. 

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine's Church. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Archbishop Stepinac High School, 950 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.
