Breaking News: Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center Dies After Single-Car Crash

Dr. Robert Ara Mavian, 76, Of Ossining, Operated Millwood Animal Hospital

MILLWOOD, N.Y. - Dr. Robert Ara Mavian died April 20.  He was 76.

Dr. Mavian was born in 1936 in New York City to immigrant Armenian parents, and raised in Bergenfield N.J. and Queens.  He graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1962. After working in Kentucky, Long Island and Briarcliff Manor, he established the Millwood Animal Hospital in 1971, which he operated until 2011.

Dr. Mavian is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Elizabeth; son, Andrew; two grandsons; and sister Diane.

A memorial service is to be planned for a date to be determined later.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Those who wish to honor Dr. Mavian’s memory may sign up to become organ donors.
