Douglas L. Zerrilla, 85, Former Ossining Fire Chief

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Douglas L. Zerrilla, 85, a longtime Ossining resident and the town's former fire chief, died Saturday, Feb. 21.

Zerrilla was born in Ossining on Oct. 5, 1929, and was the son of Michael and Lillian.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was the fire chief of the Ossining Fire Department in 1987-88 and was a member of Ladder 41.

Zerrilla is survived by his wife, Judy; his sister, Dorothy Thomas; several stepchildren and many stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Laurel; and siblings Michael, Frederick, Thomas, Anthony, Donald, Elizabeth, Theresa, Barbara and Joan.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 4-8 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church. Interment will be in Dale Cemetery.
