Andrew Grass Jr., 82, Former Ossining Village Justice

OSSINING, N.Y. – Andrew Nembach Grass Jr., a longtime Ossining resident and former village justice, died Nov. 20. He was 82.

Born Dec. 20, 1929, in New York City, he was the son of Andrew Nembach Grass Sr. and Cecelia Kipp Banks Grass. He graduated from Rutgers University and New York University Law School. Grass was the former chief enforcement attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission in New York City.

A former partner at Windels, Marx and Ingram law firm, he previously worked as an attorney for the Securities Traders Association of New York, where he also served as vice president. He served as a village justice in Ossining from 1971 to 2007.

Grass is survived by his wife of 62 years, Diana Ruffalo Grass; three daughters, Andrea Mooney, Karen (David) Kelsey and Lizbeth Grass; three grandchildren; and two cousins, Linda Milne and Mac Bailey.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Scarborough Presbyterian Church in Briarcliff Manor. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church, and burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Dorsey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
