Alfred Hatzmann, 92, Of Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – Alfred Hatzmann, 92, of Ossining, died Saturday, Sept. 12.

He was born May 2, 1923, in Tarrytown to Alfred and Rose (Kacian) Hatzmann. He graduated from Ossining High School in 1941. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theater in the Air Squadron VMB 423 from 1942-45. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism.

He married Marjorie Harbort July 10, 1948. After the war, he graduated from Pace University and worked as a tax accountant for the New York Central Railroad. After leaving the railroad, he owned and operated his own landscape company for over 30 years. He was a founding member of Torview Swim Club. He enjoyed watching golf, gardening, attending his grandchildren's baseball and basketball games and his annual Marine Corps Squadron reunions.

He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters Wendy Tarricone (Paul) and Marjorie Rose Hatzmann; two grandchildren; one brother; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be reposing Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Leach & Thomas Inc., 32 State St., Ossining. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining, with burial following at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
