Wolves, Music, More For Weekend Around Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – From visiting wolves to enjoying live bands, there's a lot do this weekend in and around Ossining. Here's a list of events:


Music Showcase at Market Square in Ossining, 3 p.m.

Live music presented by Unity in the Community, including DJ Esco, Ill Responsible, Moe "The Show Stopper," Sweet Daddy Grace and more. Location: Market Square at the corner of Main and Spring Streets.

Ossining Waterfront Concert, 7:30 p.m.

Mike and Miriam Risko, owners of the Mike Risko Music School in Ossining, will play, and their students will perform too.

Jazz and Blues at Dusk, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Yonkers' Downtown Business Improvement District presents free live music at the Yonkers Amphitheater stage as part of its summer concert series. The featured band will be Yerbabuena, a fusion band that performs African-rooted Latin music with hip-hop, soul, West African Afrobeat and Middle Eastern themes.

Big Band Music On The Boardwalk, 7:30 p.m.

Milt Gerver and his orchestra will play music from the Big Band era on the boardwalk of Playland Park in Rye. Admission is free, parking fees apply.

Putnam County Fair, Friday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Members of Muscoot Farm's 4-H youth club will show off farm animals at Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Rd. in Carmel. There will also be pony rides, food, antique tractors, a "Country Living" auction, hay rides, crafts, a plant sale and more. Admission and parking are free.


Wolf Pups At Wolf Conservation Center, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

South Salem's Wolf Conservation Center located at 7 Buck Run invites visitors to see the newest additions to its family: two ambassador wolf pups. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and find out why summer is a magical time for wolf packs in North America. Cost: $16 for adults, $13 for children under 12. Children must be six years old or older to visit. Pre-registration is required and can be made at the center's website .

"Musical Journeys" Summer Concert, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Enjoy live music at Ladson Park, Arboretum & Veterans Memorial on Route 35 in Somers. Admission is $17 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7 for children 5 – 12 and free for children under five.


Yiddish Heritage Celebration, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Yiddish music and entertainment at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Admission is free.

Merestead Through the Eyes of the Servants, 1 p.m.

The Merestead estate house at 455 Byram Lake Rd. in Mt. Kisco presents a special tour for discovering what it was like to be a servant in the early 20th century. Find out what they did for coffee breaks and how much they earned. Fourteen participants maximum, by reservation only. Cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for 13 – 17 year olds and free for children 12 and under.
