Beylka Krupp and Rich Foshay, owners of Wobble Café in Ossining, are donating $10,000 to the new Westchester Children’s Museum set to open in May. Krupp won the $40,000 grand prize in General Mills' Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest.

The charitable donation is part of Krupp’s grand prize winnings in the first annual Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest, which awarded her $40,000 cash plus $10,000 to give to a local charity of her choice. Krupp took home the grand prize in the nationwide contest from General Mills Foodservice that celebrates independent restaurants, the one-of-a-kind dishes that reflect their local flavor and the integral role the restaurant owners play within their community.

Krupp’s award-winning recipe, shrimp étouffée, is one of the specialty dishes she serves at Wobble Café. It includes a Cajun-spiced shrimp stew that blends tomato, garlic, onion, cream and Cajun spices and herbs served with rice and jalapeno-cheese cornbread.

“Our judges were wowed by Beylka’s mouth-watering shrimp étouffée recipe, and we were all truly inspired by her tireless commitment to her local community,” said Danielle Benson, associate channel manager for General Mills Foodservice. “In recognition of Beylka and her restaurant’s contributions to several non-profit organizations in their neighborhood, we are thrilled to make a $10,000 donation to the Westchester Children’s Museum on their behalf.”

A check presentation was held Monday at the Westchester Children’s Museum.

“I chose Westchester Children's Museum as the recipient because I think museums, especially ‘hands- on’ museums, are a great asset to any community and every family. Hands-on museums provide families with quality time together where play and learning are combined,” said Krupp. “A quality museum like Westchester Children’s Museum brings tourism dollars from all over the country which benefits the whole county. Its location next to Rye Playland and Rye Beach helps make a whole day of fun for tourists and people taking day trips out of New York City.”

To qualify for the Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest, restaurants from around the country submitted their favorite original breakfast, entrée or dessert recipes using at least one ingredient from General Mills’ list of eligible products. Krupp and two other finalists traveled to General Mills’ headquarters in Minneapolis in March, where they were treated to a day of celebration, inspiration and fun. Celebrity chef Amanda Freitag was on-site to meet with the finalists and announce the grand prize winner.
