What's Happening In Ossining This Weekend

OSSINING, N.Y. – St. Ann’s Festival is the highlight of the weekend events in Ossining and Briarcliff Manor.  

Friday, June 29

Computer Help: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, contact Cheryl at 914-941-2416, Ext. 315. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

St. Ann’s Festival: 6 to 11 p.m. The St. Ann’s Festival continues through July 1. Rides include the Zipper and the Round-Up. Games, music and foods from many different cultures will also be featured throughout the festival. Those with questions are asked to call 914-941-2556.Eastern Avenue near Route 9 in Ossining.

Waterfront Spray Park Open: Noon to 6 p.m. The Waterfront Spray Park is now open. Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining.

Story Break at the Briarcliff Library: 4 p.m. The children’s librarian will stop by the pavilion above the pool at Briarcliff Manor’s Law Memorial Park to read a story. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road. 

Friday Night Movie at the Library: 7 to 10 p.m. The Steven Spielberg-directed film “War Horse” will be the Friday night movie. "War Horse" is rated PG-13. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.  

Saturday, June 30

Ossining Farmers’ Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ossining Farmers’ Market is set to open for the 21st season. Dozens of vendors from around the tri-state area are returning this year and several new vendors are joining for the first time. Market Square, Market and Spring streets. 

Pond Life at Teatown Lake: 11 a.m. to noon. Grab a net and join in as we scoop to find what’s mucking about! This program is for children ages 6 to 10 accompanied by an adult. Free for members; $5 per person for nonmembers. Call 914-762-2912 Ext. 110 to make a reservation. Teatown Lake.

Storytelling by David Gonzalez: 2 to 3 p.m. Storyteller, musician, poet, actor, writer and music therapist David Gonzalez will tell stories in Spanish and English for children entering grades kindergarten through third grade. Children’s Room, Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.  

Between the Covers Summer Reading Program for Adults: All day. Special events for adults, including movies and a book swap, will take place throughout the summer. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road. 

Sunday, July 1

Pedro Baez Concert at the Ossining Library: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Pedro Baez will present a concert of folk music from Latin America and Spain. The free concert is available to all. Doors open at 2 p.m. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Community Helping Hands Training: 3 to 4:30 p.m. Community Helping Hands is hosting a training session. The group is seeking volunteers to help local senior citizens in their homes and around their community. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Vesper Series - Peace Like a River: 7 p.m. The Sunday Evening Services of the Historic Ossining Camp Meeting Association continue with the 2012 Vesper Series, “Peace Like a River.” Admission free – goodwill offerings accepted to support the auditorium. Find parking outside of Campwoods Grounds. Campwoods Grounds, Ossining.
