OSSINING, N.Y. -- It is the premiere day for the Village of Ossining to showcase itself.
The 34th Annual Ossining Village Fair will be taking place Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street in the village. The event is sponsored by the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce, which said the fair reflects the unique character of the Village of Ossining with a wide range of vendors, food, games, rides and live entertainment.
The event draws thousands of people each year and will feature 200 vendors and live performances on four entertainment stages. Last year's event drew 15,000 people.
"We expect the same this year," said Gayle Marchica, president of the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce. "(We have) amazing vendors, diverse cuisine, and live entertainment. Our village fair is a celebration of Ossining’s diversity and culture and truly exemplifies the spirit and energy of our local businesses and wonderful community.”
This year’s fair will feature Ossining’s Down to Earth Farmers Market allowing both regular patrons and fairgoers to experience the fresh meat and produce the farmer's market offers.
Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct will be offering tours of the Weir Chamber, inviting visitors to descend into the original 1842 brick water tunnel and learn its history. The tour will meet at the north end of the Double Arch Bridge at 95 Broadway.
Mayor Bill Hanauer said the Ossining Village Fair allows Ossining to showcase itself in the best possible light.
"We show residents and the public what the Village of Ossining has to offer," Hanauer said. "People from the outside can see the beautiful architecture that we have here. They find restaurants they like and it makes them want to come back. It's a really great social occasion for Ossining."
