WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man and a woman were killed Monday night in separate accidents on the Taconic State Parkway.

The unidentified man was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the northbound Taconic near Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley at around 7 p.m. The man was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.

The woman died in a one-car accident further north on the Taconic Parkway in the town of Claverack.

She was traveling northbound when she drove off the shoulder and over an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne before landing between two trees, police said.

She was flown to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The woman has been identified as a Dutchess County resident but her name has not yet been released.

Coming down the hill from Bryant Pond Rd hard against the rock retaining wall and the guard rail is a very scary drive which to the irritation of the tailgaiting ass behind me I drive at 45 or less...
I understand this is the scenario- hit wall hit guard rail hit car sideswipe another hit guard rail-
and Drugs and vodka may have been contributing factors- just tragic for this young man's family already on hard times.

People don't respect the speed limits on the TSP, especially when the road narrows and winds through Putnam County. I'm surprised that there aren't more accidents. If the Police really want to earn a lot of money for the county they would put a speed camera on that Bryant Pond overpass, and they could hand out hundreds of speeding tickets every day.

That is the worst parkway exit I've ever seen. But that's not where the accident happened, right?

Gene totally agree. It took a death at Bryant Pond road for them to finally do something on that stretch what are they waiting for.

The Northbound Taconic at Peekskill Hollow road exit is just a death trap waiting to claim lives.....cars are at speed coming down the hill, and you have to slow to 20 or les to make the turn blocking the right hand lane suddenly-
