Troop members James Hoffman, Nick Servidio, and Andrew Snyder, were honored Wednesday, April 22. Hoffman, Servidio, and Snyder are seniors at Ossining High School.

State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, Westchester County Legislator Catherine Borgia and Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity attended the ceremony and awarded each Eagle Scout a proclamation, according to a press release.

Only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, and those who do so complete an extensive service project.

Hoffman became a Boy Scout in March 2008. For his project, he designed and built eight benches and four tables for the playground at the Ossining Children’s Center. Hoffman plans to study computer science at Stony Brook University in the fall.

Servidio also became a Boy Scout in March 2008. He built a 130-foot footbridge at the Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining. Servidio will intern this summer in the office of State Supreme Court Justice Alexander W. Hunter Jr. He plans to study accounting and finance at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. under the college’s presidential academic scholarship program.

Snyder joined Boy Scout Troop 18 in February 2008. His Eagle Scout project entailed modifying part of the Hidden Valley Trail at Ossining’s Teatown Lake Reservation. Snyder will work as a lifeguard this summer at the Chappaqua Swim and Tennis Club. A competitive swimmer, he was recruited by Towson University in Maryland, a Division I school, where he will study exercise science and kinesiology.
