Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home at 41 Grand St. in Croton. Her funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Lacey was found unresponsive by her father, David Carr, Sunday afternoon in her home on Hastings Avenue in Croton, according to Croton Police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos. Lacey was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow where she was pronounced dead.
Kathleen Dymes, Lacey's mother, was also found unconscious and was taken to Phelps where she is listed in critical condition, according to LoHud.
Police have ruled out carbon monoxide as a cause and said they are still investigating. Dymes and Lacey lived at the home with Dymes' father.
Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for the Westchester District Attorney's Office, said they are awaiting the results of the autopsy which could take anywhere from a week to a month.
At Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, where she was a first-grade student in Patricia Lynch's class, Lacey was described by her teachers as friendly, happy, polite, and very ladylike.
She loved nature and her teaches said she lit up a room when she entered.
Lacey was known as being a big fan of the Croton- Harmon High School varsity boys basketball team and attended many home games.
In a letter sent to parents, Principal Kelly Maloney said counselors would be visiting each class to offer support though teachers will not be making a formal announcement to their classes.
"We will not be sharing any specifics of the death," Maloney said.
Mayor Leo Weigman said this was a tragic loss for the community.
"Both families have been active in the community for a long time," Weigman said. "This is a moment where the community is standing in solidarity with their thoughts and prayers."
