OSSINING, N.Y. -- Community members recently learned about poverty in Westchester during a seminar at St. Ann's Parish School in Ossining.

“Poverty 50 Years Later,” a reference to the War on Poverty launched in 1964 by President Lyndon Johnson, included presentations on poverty and group topics such as housing, education, employment and healthcare, according to the Examiner News.

Juanita Lewis, Community Voices Heard organizer,  said the seminars are bringing out a positive message, according to the Examiner report.

“There’s been some really good dialogue and information shared among the different cities and the different individuals,” said Lewis, according to the Examiner. “And now people are really starting to dig into the particular issue areas that they were concerned with.”
