Report: Fire At Cottage School Being Investigated

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. — A fire that displaced staff and seven students at the Pleasantville Cottage School Saturday  appeared to have started inside the plastered walls, Thornwood Fire Chief Herb Doerr said in a story in The Journal News.

The fire at the three-story building at 1075 Broadway, Pleasantville was reported at about 5:30 p.m., the newspaper reported. Staff and seven boys between the ages of 9-14 staying in the cottage were outside playing at the time, said Leslie Gottlieb, a school spokeswoman, in The Journal News story.

Fire crews spent three hours to get the fire under control, battling the blaze and breaking through the plastered walls to get at the flames, Doerr told the newspaper.

No one was injured.
