OSSINING, N.Y. -- Here are the top stories from the week in Ossining:

  • Ossining's WDFH signed off the air Monday, but is hoping to relaunch as a nonprofit. The Ossining-licensed station said on its website that it is not closing for good, but instead "working hard to regroup as a nonprofit media production company." It added that its groundbreaking LGBTQ youth program, "OutCasting," recently was picked up for national distribution, and it will try to continue "OutCasting," as well as create other new programs. Later it was announced that the station's signal was sold to New York Public Radio, which will allow classical radio station WQXR 90.3 FM to reach parts of Westchester.
  • A pot left on the stove for too long caused a fire at an Ossining apartment building Wednesday morning. Ossining Firefighters responded to smoke in a first floor apartment at 25 S. Highland Ave. at around 7 a.m., Wednesday. The Fire Department reported no injuries and no one in the building had to be evacuated.
  • William Reynolds' account of the old Ossining Olive Opera House was also a top story of the week.
