- Hurricane Sandy struck Ossining on Oct. 29 and caused thousands of residents to lose power, flooded several streets and caused thousands of dollars in damage around the town and village.

- Ossining resident Bryan Johnson drowned on June 20 after a prank gone wrong on a trip to Orchard Beach.
- Two eighth-graders at Dorner Middle School were charged with juvenile delinquency in April after one of them allegedly attempted to force a boy to perform oral sex in a school bathroom while the other one blocked the door, police said.
- Gas prices strained Ossining residents and businesses in 2012 after prices crept up to $4 a gallon on at least three occasions during the year.
- Three junior varsity Sleepy Hollow football players were taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in October after they were reportedly assaulted in Ossining after a football game with rival Ossining High School.
