Tax Prep Assistance

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Westchester County is looking for volunteers for the annual income tax preparation program.

The program, which helps help low- and moderate-income residents qualify for federal and state earned income tax credits, is set to run from Feb. 1 to April 15. The county is asking for volunteers for the program who will be trained in January prior to the opening of the program.

“This is an important program that last year helped 7,636 residents obtain refunds totaling $8.6 million,” said County Executive Robert. P. Astorino. “Crucial to the success of the program is the work of volunteers who actually do the tax returns.”

There will be several designated tax assistance sites in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Ossining, Valhalla, White Plains and Peekskill.

Those interested in volunteering for the program are asked to visit the Westchester County website to sign up online.
