Ossining Man Drove Into Stairs, Charged With DWI

An Ossining man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated yesterday at around 4:45 a.m.

According to police reports, Robert Nichols, 21, of Spring Street, drove down Broad Avenue and made a right turn onto Spring Street without stopping for a flashing red light and without signaling a right hand turn. Police say that Nichols later made an abrupt turn into a driveway off Spring Street and stopped his car after striking some porch stairs.

After observation and questioning, it was determined that Nichols was driving while intoxicated, police said.
