The new American restaurant, located at 199 Main Street in Ossining, celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday. The restaurant has been opened since April.

"We are so happy to have this in our downtown," Ingrid Richards, manager of downtown and economic development in the Village of Ossining said. "Keenan House gives our downtown some energy. They have fabulous food and extensive beer list. I could not think of a better place."

Mayor Bill Hanauer said Keenan House is part of his goal of revitalizing Ossining's downtown.

"This is very exciting," Hanauer said."The more restaurants we have, the better it is for all restaurants there."

Keenan House is run by Steven and Jessica Vescio, residents of Briarcliff.

"Ossining has a lot of potential," Steven Vescio said. "It was a logical fit for us. There was a need for great American cuisine with great beers."

Both Vescios worked in the food industry and Steven said he has a passion beer.

"This is is a casual yet refined dining experience," Vescio said. "We get people from all walks of life. We have people who come in for lunch and people who come in for happy hour."

Vescio said they have gotten customers from all over, including Cortlandt, Peekskill, Chappaqua and Sleepy Hollow, as well as rivertowns like Dobbs Ferry.

"There's not a place like this in a 15-mile radius," Vescio said.

Keenan House serves local beer like Elmsford's Captain Lawrence and Yonkers Brewery.

"The beer market is really exploding," Vescio said.

The reception for Keenan House has been positive. The restaurant regularly fills up on Fridays and Saturdays. Hanauer said even he has had trouble getting a table.

"I have been here a few times and it's very good," Hanauer said. "This place attracts young professionals who just want to go out and have fun. Beer loves of the world unite. It is excellent."

Vescio said the fried calimiari has a sauce that is to die for and also recommends their burgers and bacon, egg and cheese pizza.
