Ossining BBoy Makes Cut In Fox TV's Dance Show

Ossining hip hop and break dance artist Wadi Jones has made it to the top 20 contestants in the Fox television show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Jones responded to an open call audition in New York, and last week he made the cut in Las Vegas from about 200 dancers to the top 20, with judges cheering him on, saying "All right! He's a real B-Boy!"

"I am a self-taught BBoy and Hip Hop dancer," Jones, whose nickname is BBoy Skye, said in a biography of him on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance website. "I have about three months worth of formal contemporary training at my dance studio and about one month of ballet."

In Las Vegas, Jones went through a "boot camp" type training, along with other dancers. He was taught routines for various styles of dancing including hip hop, Broadway, ballroom and contemporary, and he had to perform in front of judges.

As one of the top 20 dancers, he will have a chance every week to move towards becoming the top dancer in "So You Think You Can Dance." A man and a woman are eliminated each week at the end of the show, which airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.

According to Fox's website, Jones was born in Jamaica and began dancing when he was 12 years old. He works in the child care center of a gym helping to take care of kids six month to 12 years old, and he also works for three dance companies as a party motivator and for a dance studio as a dance instructor.

In his off time, Jones enjoys writing poetry and music, skateboarding, snowboarding and parkour/freefun, the sport of traversing urban landscapes by running, climbing and jumping.
